Volunteers
Volunteer Opportunities ~ What You Can Expect at River Hospital
River Hospital is pleased to accept volunteers to assist with a variety of activities for the patients and residents of this facility. Our volunteers are very important to us and we will make every effort to put your skills to use in the area you request.
The first step to becoming a Volunteer is to complete the Volunteer Application and return it to the Activity Department of the hospital, by mail or in person. When we have received your completed application the 'Request for Reference' will be mailed to three of your listed references. It is to your advantage to advise your references that the request may be mailed to them and to please return the completed questionnaire as soon as possible. Once all the completed references are returned to the Activity Department you will be notified and will be requested to complete the 'Volunteer Health Assessment'. An annual FREE health assessment, along with TB testing is required by the State of New York as a condition of volunteer status. TB testing and health assessments are available Monday through Friday at the River Community clinic. It is the applicant's responsibility to schedule the health assessment by calling (315) 482-2094; be sure to let the scheduler know this assessment is for volunteer status, and ensure to present the completed Volunteer Health Assessment Form, including signature, at the time of the appointment.
For more information or questions about becoming a volunteer do not hesitate to contact our Volunteer Coordinator and Activities Director, Kathy Exelby, at 315-482-1129 or by email at kexelby@riverhospital.org
